The City is in the planning stages for a weeklong celebration aimed at bringing the community together and celebrating the unique cultures represented throughout Eden Prairie. To help make this a community-inspired event, please share your thoughts, ideas and suggestions!

Is there a certain country or culture you would like to see celebrated? What are some of the important customs and traditions unique to this culture? What is the best way to highlight these at a community event?

As many as possible. I’m sure there are many to choose from based on the cultures that live here including German, Scandinavian, Native American, Indian, Hispanic, African- just to name a few. Think Epcot. Good, music and celebration.

Thrilled to have this kind of celebration in our community. It will be important to have members of the cultural groups to provide the activities, entertainment, food, etc. instead of speaking "for" people. Such potential to be a fun and meaningful event. Thanks to the planners!

One place to gain input is through the ESL classes held at the tech school. Another place is through the Conversation Circle participants held at the Eden Prairie library where we facilitate conversations for people learning the English language. I've met some wonderful people there as I'm one of the facilitators.

The Eden Prairie Chinese American community will be happy to participate by music, dance, cultural exhibitions, and sampling of food.

A representation of ALL our cultural backgrounds would be wonderful and make for a meaningful event. It would be beneficial for some of the newer cultural groups to know the heritage and background of this area, too, learning that all our families new and old came to be settlers and transplants to this area.

The story of Red Rock Lake was particularly interesting and a little shocking

We have a lot of people from India that have moved to our area of Eden Prairie. Please try to include this group in the celebration.
